**IMPORTANT** UI of the clicker is not intuitive and many people don't notice you can scroll with your touchscreen, mouse wheel or right scroll bar to see more options. Apologies for that.**

Chirper is the most mainstream social network, where you can get up to date with the celebrities, share your creations or communicate with your friends.

Unlike most simulation games, you play as Pelon Tusk, the new CEO of Chirper, not to make the site successful, but to make it completely unusable and unprofitable by taking decisions about it. Try to break the site as soon as possible!

Pelon Tusk and Chirper are fictional names and any resemlance with reality is purly coincidental.

Controls

Only a mouse or a touchscreen is needed to play. It should work on most desktop or mobile browsers.
Click the blue buttons to take an action. Click the orange buttons to hire a VP, who will automatically take actions for you. You can use the scroll bar on the right (or mouse wheel) to see all available actions- there are 12 of them at the beginning, but some may become unavailable later as the game progresses.

Use the ESC key to skip the initial cutscene or to bring up the pause menu.

How to play

The game is an "inverse" idle clicker (role reversed) where you have most buttons available in the beginning but clicking them disables them as the game progresses and your goal is to make the numbers shrink, rather than grow. There is also special events triggered when certain conditions are met.

You roleplay as Pelon Tusk, CEO of Chirper, starting on October 27, 2022 after the acquisition. However, your objective is not to get good business results, quite the opposite (role reversed), the objective of the game is to destroy Chirper. To do so, you need to bring the main 4 main metrics  down to 0 or less (money, users, external perceived brand reputation and internal employee approval). When the 4 metrics reach those minimum value, the game ends.

You can use your actions (affecting secondary metrics), as well as the decisions during the random events you get to achieve that goal. When the game finishes, it shows your score and the high (low)scores. The challenge is to bring down Chirper in the minimum amount of days since you acquired it.

There also is an additional secret ending.

The game is fully in English although menus are translated to Spanish (not the rest of the content).

Game Jam

This game was designed, coded and tested in 48 hours for the GMTK Jam 2023. All assets, with the exeption of the music and sound effects where created during the jam. Therea are some minor bugs, typos and lack of polish, but it should be generally playable.

Known bugs

* The windows version crashes when clicking "go back to menu" after completing the game. To workaround the issue, restart the game after playing

* The win screen says "YOU LOSE" . This is intended for parody reasons, bringing down Chirper is the goal, but nobody wins with it. There is a typo on that screen, as the left side tells you your last score, and the right sire tells you your best (least) score, and its title should say "HIGH SCORE" not "YOUR SCORE"

Install instructions

Chirper - Pelon Tusk simulator was develop primarily for the web. However, some browsers may have issues, so alternative downloads are offered for Windows, Linux and Mac. While those may run better in some cases, those are, for the most part, untested.

To run the game on your own PC, download the corresponding compressed file and extract it first to a local folder (running it without decompressing it first will fail).
